Transplantation

Heart and lung transplantation has been a core area of our experimental and clinical research for decades and has made Hannover and the MHH known worldwide. For years, the MHH maintained the world's largest lung transplant center. Initiated by the previous generation with Rudolph Pichlmayr and Hans-Georg Borst, we were able to contribute a number of clinical innovations that not only spurred international scientific progress, but also directly benefited our patients and those at other centers.
