On 22 November 2024, a large academic farewell ceremony was held for my mentor D. Craig Miller in Stanford, Ca. Originally intended as a fellowship for heart and lung transplantation, the cooperation in aortic surgery has resulted in a long-standing friendship and academic collaboration. Here are some pictures from the fantastic event, which was attended by numerous former assistant and senior physicians as well as a number of international guest scientists. During the day, a high-calibre scientific symposium took place, here are some pictures. At the evening reception I was able to give a short dinner speech, I have attached the manuscript
Image information: Craig Miller, as usual, wearing a cowboy hat in the centre, with the current head of the clinic, Joe Woo, in front of me on the left.
The symposium consisted of current and historical contributions, here a photo taken during the first heart transplant in 1968
in addition to the presentations - intensive discussion
